Water or aqueous solutions are commonly tested for the presence of multiple chemical and biological contaminants.

State of the art photometric water testing methods for field analysis often require complicated mixing of reagents. They have the capability of detecting just a single analyte at a time and do not yet support simultaneous multi-parameter analysis.
